In the fourth quarter of 2023. The Foreign Expansion Fund 2 FIZ AN entered into an investment agreement with the SECO/WARWICK Group to provide financing to its subsidiary Retech. The funds are earmarked for the development of metal powder manufacturing technology and the expansion and equipping of a manufacturing and assembly plant in Buffalo, New York.

Company profile

The group specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of advanced solutions for the heat treatment of metals and vacuum metallurgy. It is a market leader in the production of industrial furnaces and end-to-end solutions for 5 categories: vacuum and protective atmosphere heat treatment, aluminium processing, heat exchanger brazing and vacuum metallurgy. The group has 8 companies on 3 continents and exports to more than 70 countries worldwide.

Motivations of the company to expand abroad

The group operates globally. Its strategy involves, among other things, strengthening the position of its current and developing new technologies, and focusing on the operational independence of its subsidiaries. Powder metallurgy technology, which plays a key role in many fields and sectors, shows particularly great potential. It is being developed by Retech, the group's US company.

Choice of expansion destination

The United States remains one of the destinations for global foreign investment. In 2022, new foreign investments worth nearly $300 billion flowed into the country. This is determined by a number of factors, among them: stable and rapid economic development, a huge domestic market in which the largest global industrial companies operate, technological dominance in many industries, low and stable energy prices or limited currency risk due to the role of the dollar in the global economy. Recognizing the potential of the U.S. market, SECO/WARWICK has been expanding its operations there for many years, and ongoing investments are expected to help expand its customer portfolio to include more American companies.

Choice of expansion destination

Germany is one of European countries which are actively implementing an environmentally-friendly transport policy. What can be observed as a result is a strong focus on rail and intermodal transport, which makes it possible to shift the carriage potential to more environmentally-friendly means of transport. Moreover, Germany is one of the biggest commercial partners of Poland. About 8 million trucks travel between our countries. Laude Smart Intermodal sees the above conditions as an opportunity to develop its business activities.

Benefits of expansion

The implementation of investments in the development of metal powder production technology is aimed at strengthening the SECO/WARWICK Group's position in the global vacuum metallurgy market, especially in the rapidly growing area of 3D metal printing.
